Re-union 2010
Eileen Hatton (nee O'toole)
Maidstone I remember it well: Peter congratulations on the website, You jogged so many fab memories and brought so many people together. I work in Cornwall as Branch Manager of a Medical Centre and by pure chance while training to do the 26mile moon walk met someone who until 11 years ago spend her life in Maidstone and surrounding areas. I felt as we were almost same age our paths must have crossed so we delved and low and behold we know so many people including you from bygones (also Jim). Anyway,I've had a fab idea, considering so many of us have such a good time reminissing, to suggest a date in the new year when all interested and available meet at the White Rabbit along Sandling Road on a certan evening and see how many turn up. All schools welcome. What do you think - I'm sure you will be surprised how many will want to recapture the past in person.!

Maidstone I remember it well: Eileen, great idea about a reunion at The White Rabbit. Barry Hynes and myself organised a St Francis School reunion some years ago and it was a great success with a brilliant turn-out. We'll just have to see who responds to these emails!!! Be good to see you again Pete!!!

Maidstone I remember it well: Just seen the email from Eileen Hatton (O'toole). An ALL school reunion sounds an excellent idea to me so long as it doesn't include a 26 mile walk!! Not sure where the White Rabbit is/was!! Maybe another idea would be a meeting of those who have written to this site with Peter "picking up the tab!!!" Seriously though, through this site I have reconnected with "Old" friends from yesteryear including Jim Yarwood who I met in June this year AND who i'm glad to say has even less hair than me!! One thing that hasn't changed much is the terrible traffic in town! Will ring you later Jim to apologise!! I wonder if there are any members of the Tekkol football team that i played for in the 60's still around? Nice to see a comment from Rod Moodley who i remember well and his brother Leon, a great guy and a nice family. Sad to see the Greyhound pub is now closed. Anyone remember Bill and Milly's daughters Pam and Pat(i think!)? One of them was married to Buster who used to play darts with my dad "Mac" McKenna.Does anybody recall the name of the lady who taught the piano and lived on the corner of County road next door to Handi Andi's? To Cliff Vanns, yes my folks owned the Bakery/Off licence shop in Holland road and I certainly remember your mum Rita.

Maidstone I remember it well: I love this website. Thank you Peter. In reply to Eileen Hatton - a get together would be wonderful. Can you hold off until October 2010 when I will be in England for a visit?

Maidstone I remember it well: hi trish,I expect it will take a while to organise this,so October sounds good.Hopefully you will get to meet up with Terry this time.I know he was disappointed when he didnt get to see you when over here this year.

Maidstone I remember it well: I am so impressed with the response to my suggestion of a reunion, not only on this site but with people I have spoken to. However what I meant by this was just to suggest an initial date/time when anyone who could, would meet in the The White Rabbit pub,(which incidentally used to be the officers mess in the Sandling Road barracks where we lived when my dad was in the army, and although they demolished the barracks they couldn't destroy the officers mess because it was a listed building so they turned it into a pub)without it being a big organised event where each would take responsibility for themselves and hopefully wear a badge (or not)with name and for females to include maiden name, and just turn up. Maybe the only suggestion would be to colour code schools on this site, again for the person to make sure they were wearing the right colour badge for their school. I feel that this way no one person would have to bear the stress, and from that
another date could be suggested and those who were unable to make the first event would possibly be able to make the next and so on. There will be some who can make all, and others (inc Trish in October 2010) would be able to make the odd one. What I am trying to say is that I think it would be nice to make it a regular (maybe once or twice a year) event when it didn't matter if some couldn't make it to all but would have the chance to get to at least one. I would just like for everyone to know where to go to re-acquaint maybe on a regular basis with old and once very dear pals.
Blimey you can see which school you went to.

Maidstone I remember it well: Hi Peter. At last a date and a place for the "Re-union" that Eileen Hatton(O'Toole)and Trish Small suggested. We have decided that the place will be The Society Rooms, opposite St. Francis church, Week Street, ON Saturday March 13th 2010. We thought this would be an ideal place because it caters for most needs!! The railway and Taxis right next door; A smoking area (with heaters for those of us that Still Smoke!!) Food available at good prices from behind the bar. Drinks at affordable prices; plenty of room!! AND most important FREE. 7-30pm seems a reasonable "start" time. Name badges (ladies maiden names please) will be colour coded by schools. Suggested colours as follows: East Borough-Yellow: North Borough-Blue: South Borough-Red: West Borough-Black: St. Francis-Brown: Vinters-Green: Technical-Purple: Grammar-Gold AND Senacre-White. Sorry if your school is not listed BUT EVERYONE is welcome. If you wish to come along then tell your friends AND
maybe email this great site to say you are coming, perhaps with a story for Peter to publish. If this is "successful" then maybe we could arrange an "informal meeting" once or twice a year. If you would like to ask me any questions then feel free to do so by email (see my previous comment listed above for address) if not I look forward to meeting friends "old" and "New" in March. Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year to everyone.
Jim Yarwood
Maidstone I remember it well: Terry, good to see you're attempting to organise the event. Hope it all goes well and that numbers exceed expectations! As Terry said let's start spreading the word/email site around. See you there!

Maidstone I remember it well: I don't suppose you could organise a follow-up event somewhere between the 12 May & 29 June?
Anyway the best of luck to you all.
Regards.

I notice that the security word for this msg is WOMBAT. Quite appropriate as there is a village about 30 mins away called Wombat - honest!
